Pūniu River Care Cadetship Course to develop and grow our Leaders

As a Marae based, Rangatahi led initiative, PRC's commitment to supporting other local marae community allows us to work along side whānau with the same desired outcome of a sustainable future for generations to come.

Pūniu River Care (PRC) has aligned with The Ministry for Social Development to implement a pre-employment training service which is designed to up-skill 10 participants to the minimum entry level that industry and employers require.

With organisational growth, comes the need for expansions. Increasing plant capacity within our nursery every year has been a huge goal from the beginning.

During the school holidays, we have employed 4 youth who are all affiliated within the Marae of Pūniu River Care to help with planting in the busy season

Led my Poutoko Mahi Tauira, This project enables Mahi Tauira Kaitiaki to improve habitat diversity for native flora and fauna and empowers Kaitiakitanga of their significant Maunga.

Our legacy will be an abundance of bird life within areas of native plantings that connect Te Kahui Maunga (Maungatautiri, Kakepuku o Kahu, Te Kawa and Pirongia o Kahu).

After a successful project application with The Waikato River Authority, we are stoked to be able to share our new project.

This project, in partnership with Waikato Regional Council will look to create an ecological corridor from Mangatoatoa Pā to Rawhitiroa Pā.

On a mission to enhance the waters and replenish the taonga within the Pūniu River Catchment.
