Kakepuku Revegetation Project

Led my Poutoko Mahi Tauira, This project enables Mahi Tauira Kaitiaki to improve habitat diversity for native flora and fauna and empowers Kaitiakitanga of their significant Maunga.

Mahi Tauira Kaitiaki have eco-sourced, propagated and planted 1400 Manuka plants to increase the area of native vegetation on Kakepuku Maunga.

Kakepuku falls within the Pūniu Catchment and is of great significance to local hapu and Kaitiaki of Pūniu River Care Inc. This project was run through Waipa District Council, who are increasing the native reserve to enhance vegetation and birdlife.
