Pūniu River care has been engagedby NZ Landcare Trust to prepare a wetland site for the establishment of a large kahikatea stand adjacent to the Waipā River.
In partnership with The Waikato Tainui college for research and development, The Waikato Regional Council and Agresearch, Habitat tuna ponds were created through excavating, fencing and planting.
With support from the Mangatoatoa Marae committee and the Waikato-Tainui Raupatu River Trust, Pūniu River Care were able to plan and construct a purpose built nursery on Mangatoatoa Marae. This followed the completion of a level 2 Horticulture course delivered, also on the marae through the Waikato Institute of Technology (WINTEC).
